DescriptionHigh Performance Computing, AI and Labs is a critical element of HPE, responsible for development of the world’s most cutting-edge, high-performance supercomputers, defining the next era of computing, delivering valuable insight and innovation. Slingshot Interconnect is the high-performance networking solution for the most powerful supercomputers in the world, like Frontier and Aurora. Join us and redefine what’s next for you.
About the Job
We are seeking an IP Routing and Switching architect to work with the Slingshot architects and product management to define and implement Layer 3 routing on Slingshot switching ASIC (Rosetta2, Rosetta3). The role is very challenging and rewarding, as the solution is not limited to managing a single switch but needs to be a Software Defined Networking solution that manages a high-performance network with potentially thousands of such switches.
• Uses domain knowledge in L3 networking to build a Slingshot routing stack from scratch.
• Leverages networking experience to suggest open-source solutions and other alternatives that can expedite the development and reduce the time to market.
• Works on implementing innovative solutions that can enable ease of management of network of Rosetta switches managed by an SDN software stack.
• Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products.
• Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.
• Possesses unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques.
• Provides highly innovative solutions.
• Oversees large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams.
How You'll Make Your Mark
• Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
• Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence conclusions of the business executives, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence.
