DescriptionAbout this Role
We are hiring a Laser Systems Control Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for bringup, configuration, and stabilization of multiwavelength laser systems for datacenter AI communications. You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team including, photonics, packaging, analog/digital design, and software engineers, to design and implement control algorithms that ensure the laser solution meets stability, power, and performance specifications across all operating conditions.
Join a tight-knit team where each individual’s contributions directly influence the company's and product's success. You'll have the opportunity to build innovative laser solutions from the ground up and tackle groundbreaking challenges. Work with people who love to build and thrive in diverse technical environments where great ideas are prioritized.
Responsibilities
-Design control algorithms for laser power and wavelength stabilization across various thermal environments and product life cycles for Lightmatter’s laser modules.
-Actively coordinate with engineers and architects across various disciplines/teams, such as -Lightmatter’s Passage SOC, photonic systems design, thermal engineering, packaging, analog design, and software engineering, to meet power consumption, performance, and production requirements.
-Architect optical components (integrated and bulk optics) such as filters for multiplexing, demultiplexing purposes, and either design these devices or work with photonics engineers to implement the designs.
-Coordinate with the test and validation team on calibration routines for packaging and assembly.
-Deliver laser module datasheet documentation related to laser power management, supply noise requirements, stability, and control.
-Support design failure mode and error analysis for each laser solution.
-Select and/or codesign with vendors an appropriate PMIC approach to drive and control highly integrated multi-wavelength laser modules in a data center environment.
-Prototype control algorithms in simulation and in a laboratory environment to assess performance against manufacturing variations and external aggressors.
*This is not a complete listing of the responsibilities. It’s a representation of the things you will be doing*
