David Joiner
Biography
David Joiner is the Acting Associate Dean of the School of Integrative Science and Technology and Kenneth L. Estabrook Professor at Kean University. His work focuses on computational and data science education specifically related to training applying HPC and VR tools to scientific research. He is PI of an NSF IUSE-HSI award supporting undergraduate research through communities of practice and peer mentoring. He is also part of a collaborative project developing a federated repository of HPC training materials to support accessibility and capacity-building in computational education. His other research includes automated pollen grain detection using deep learning for environmental and public health applications, scientific visualization, and astrophysical modeling and simulation. Dr. Joiner has developed and maintained Kean’s HPC infrastructure and teaches courses in physics, programming, and scientific computing.
