Biography
Dan Lu is a senior staff scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), where she performs research, development, and application of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to solve problems in Earth and climate sciences. Lu’s research interests span AI/ML, uncertainty quantification, and Earth system and climate modeling. She serves as the AI/ML lead for several DOE-funded projects. Her work has been recognized by several ORNL awards, including the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award and the Most Exciting LDRD Project Award. She received the U.S. Department of Energy’s Early Career Award in 2023.
