Biography
Salim Bougouffa is a senior computational biologist at the Computational Bioscience Research Center at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). His research focuses on unravelling the complexities of DNA, delving into its evolution, function, and profound impact on the phenotypes of living organisms. This passion drives his interdisciplinary work, where he studies a diverse array of organisms, ranging from microorganisms to plants and animals. He earned his PhD in biotechnology and bioinformatics from the University of Manchester. His postdoctoral research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology involved investigating metagenomes from various environments. Over the past decade at KAUST, he has held several positions, concentrating on the genomics of microbes, plants, humans, and other organisms. His recent work is dedicated to developing computational workflows that enhance our understanding of the connections between genotypes and phenotypes.
