Biography
Dr. Jean Luca Bez is a research scientist in the Scientific Data Management Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His research goal is to improve applications' I/O performance, considering their unique characteristics and the particularities of the HPC storage platforms so scientists can get the data they need. He has authored over 45 scientific publications in conferences, journals, and workshops. Jean Luca is a member of several technical program committees for conferences and workshops in HPC, I/O, and storage. He is also the SIGHPC membership coordinator and a member of the NERSC User Group Executive Committee (NUGEX) and IO500. He completed his master's degree and PhD in computer science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Jean Luca was awarded first place in the Contest of Thesis and Dissertations in Computer Architecture and High-Performance Computing, promoted by the Brazilian Computing Society.
