Jacob Verburgt
Biography
Jacob Verburgt is currently a graduate student at Purdue University, where he is pursuing both a PhD in Structural Bioinfomatics, as well as an MS in applied statistics. Jacob's PhD studies largely focus on data-driven modeling, analysis, and improvement of computationally predicted protein structures. In his most recent project, Jacob employs graph neural networks to analyze the quality of, and identify poorly modeled regions in AlphaFold protein structures. This work has led to the publication of five peer-reviewed papers and numerous presentations at numerous seminars and conferences in the Midwest.
Alongside his graduate studies, Jacob also works as a graduate student employee at the Rosen Center for Advanced computing (RCAC). Here, he currently works on the automated collection of, and analysis of HPC benchmarking and utilization data. His project provides the research computing team with automated notifications of cluster performance, and helps bring attention to poor performing nodes within the center.
