Dr. Andrew Shao is a senior HPC & AI research scientist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He works to prioritize, design, and implement features for HPE's SmartSim open-source software library. In this capacity, he engages in scientific research collaborations with government, academic, and industry partners to develop for novel applications of AI/ML, data visualization and analysis, and creating new hybrid AI/simulation workflows. He previously worked at U.S. and Canadian government labs to develop climate models, with a particular emphasis on ocean modeling. He holds a PhD and an MSc in oceanography from the University of Washington.
