Kurt Niebuhr has 25 years of experience in the digital engineering, simulation, and AI space working closely with partners and customers to solve challenging problems. Kurt has been a member of the Redmond, WA-based HPC/AI Azure engineering team at Microsoft since early 2016 and currently leads the HPC/AI software team. With a focus on reliability, scalability, and cost performance, the HPC/AI software team provides workload orchestration and scheduling products that deliver enhanced user experiences on Azure’s specialized and purpose-built HPC/AI infrastructure. Prior to joining Azure Core Engineering, Kurt worked for Microsoft Japan for nearly five years and was responsible for leading one of the first cloud-based automotive telematics projects with a Japanese OEM. Kurt spent the first 15 years of his career in the 3D design and digital engineering field at Dassault Systèmes and a series of B2B industry start-ups that didn’t survive the early 2000’s dot.com implosion.
