Mikel Jimenez is a Production Network engineer at Meta, leading AI network strategy as part of NetStra group. His work on AI Networking been instrumental for Meta to continue increasing the scale of the AI clusters for both Ranking and GenAI use cases - while balancing reliability and performance. He joined Meta in 2012, and during his tenure he also played key roles across network operations, Edge and Backbone design, and often acted a liason between network and broader Meta's Infra on major initiatives in order to support multiple global product launches. More broadly, he enjoys strategic initiatives at the intersection of distributed systems, network and scale, while advocating for operational simplicity in mind. He received his BSCS from DIT university in Ireland. Outside of work, he loves chasing iguanas with his son in Miami and spending time in between pool and beach .
