Mohammad Alaul Haque Monil
Biography
Mohammad Alaul Haque Monil is a Research Scientist in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His research focuses on heterogeneous runtime systems, large language models (LLMs) for high-performance computing (HPC), agentic AI for HPC, mathematical libraries, and performance modeling, measurement, and analysis of heterogeneous systems. His current projects center on leveraging LLMs for runtime systems, developing agentic AI techniques for performance modeling, and building a heterogeneous transformer framework. Monil is a leading developer and researcher of IRIS-SDK, the recipient of a 2024 R&D 100 Award. His key contributions to IRIS-SDK include the development of the MatRIS math library, heterogeneous memory management, and advanced scheduling techniques. An early-career researcher, Monil has authored 35 conference and journal publications in premier venues, including SC, PACT, IPDPS, ICPP, ISC, and HPEC, where he received an Outstanding Paper Award (HPEC 2023). He is a member of ACM and IEEE. Monil earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon in 2021.
