Daniel Howard

Biography
Daniel Howard is an HPC consultant at the National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR). Daniel has focused much of his career thus far within GPU computing, supporting multiple hydrological science software GPU porting efforts while leveraging tools such as performance profilers. Daniel is passionate about increasing the energy efficiency of computational models given his interest in environmental impacts and sustainability, with prior research in environmental fluid dynamics and monsoon systems. In addition, he has coordinated and supported multiple hackathon events for scientists and engineers through the Open Hackathons organization and other hack week programs. Daniel holds an MS in applied and computational mathematics and statistics (ACMS) from the University of Notre Dame and a BS in applied mathematics, engineering, and physics (AMEP) from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
