Biography
Balint Joo graduated from Edinburgh University with an Honors degree in Computer Science and Physics in 1996 and a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 2000. He has held post-doctoral positions at the University of Kentucky, at Edinburgh University on location at Columbia University and back at the Edinburgh University during which time he worked as a design team member for the QCDOC supercomputer and got engaged working with the Chroma library for lattice QCD computations. He moved to Jefferson Lab in Virginia in 2005 and to the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility at ORNL in 2020, where he is currently a group leader in the Science Engagement Section.
