Biography
Carolin Penke, PhD, is a Mathematician by training with a focus on pre-training large language models and an interest in numerical linear algebra. She earned her doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg, where her research involved developing efficient algorithms for structured eigenvalue problems in electronic structure theory. Currently, she is a researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich, and focuses on High Performance Computing and AI. As part of the OpenGPT-X project, she optimizes and facilitates the training of large GPT-like language models on GPU-accelerated clusters.
