Biography
Dr. Xi Yang is a Network Research Engineer at the Scientific Networking Division (ESnet) of Berkeley Lab. He was a senior research scientist and the director of R&D at Mid-Atlantic Crossroads, University of Maryland. His research interests include advanced network architecture, next-generation Internet, optical networking, large-scale network testbed and application, network middleware for science workflows, and cloud computing. Xi worked with Lucent Technologies as a member of technical staff in Bells Labs, Beijing, China, in 2000. He joined the University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute as a research associate in 2004 and became a computer scientist in 2006. He received a BS in communication engineering and an MS in communication and information systems from the University of Electronic Science and Technology, China, in 1997 and 2000, and a PhD in computer science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2004.
