Biography
Ulrike Meier Yang leads the Mathematical Algorithms and Computing group in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). She is a software developer for the hypre library, which received an R&D 100 Award in 2007, and the Linear and Nonlinear Solvers Topical Area Lead in the SciDAC FASTMath Institute. Her research interests are numerical algorithms, high performance computing, parallel algorithms, performance evaluation and scientific software design. She has served on the editorial boards of the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, the SIAM Journal for Matrix Analysis and Applications and the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. Ulrike was named a SIAM Fellow in 2024 and is a member of the SIAM Board of Trustees. She is the chair of the SIAM Activity Group on Supercomputing (SIAG/SC).
