Biography
Shaikh M. Arifuzzaman, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He also works as a visiting faculty with the Applied Mathematics and Computational Research Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. At UNLV, Dr. Arifuzzaman directs the DiSC Lab (Discovery through Data-intensive Scalable Computing). Dr. Arifuzzaman's research interests include algorithmic foundations of large-scale computing, data science at scale, applied machine learning (ML), and high-performance computing (HPC).

Dr. Arifuzzaman received a Ph.D. in computer science from Virginia Tech specializing in parallel algorithms and high-performance scalable computing. After that, he was an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of New Orleans, where he established a research group on big data and scalable computing. Dr. Arifuzzaman also worked as a summer researcher at Sandia National Laboratories (Livermore, CA).
