Biography
Dr. Marvin Lee oversees the national R&D strategies and implementation for Singapore’s investments in AI, cybersecurity, quantum sciences, future communications, trust technologies, and online trust and safety. Before joining the National Research Foundation, he was the vice president of the semiconductors team at the Economic Development Board, where he successfully attracted major semiconductor companies to invest in Singapore, notably a large-scale wafer fab investment, creating close to 1,000 high-value jobs for the sector. Prior to that, Marvin led a team that drove the strategic policy development in health and biomedical sciences in Singapore. He has also supported various government-to-government science and technology partnerships across MedTech, biopharma, and the food sciences. As a scientific researcher, Marvin received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Oxford, where he specialized in the development of antiviral compounds against the hepatitis C virus.
