Biography
Mike Little is a computer systems engineer for Navteca in the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He is currently focused on user needs in NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and how computational technologies can accelerate scientific discovery. Burning questions include how to scale up AI applications with hardware, and how to integrate edge and high performance computing to support digital twins. Conceptual approaches involve streaming data from remote sensing instruments into edge and high performance computing facilities to reduce the latency of scientific discovery and phenomena characterization. This is particularly important in addressing extreme phenomena as global change due to the climate accelerates. Feeding data into Digital Replicas and fine tuning foundation models is an emerging opportunity that requires orchestration and security in new and innovative ways.
