John Poole is currently a bioinformatician and programmer with the Clemson University Center for Human Genetics in Greenwood, South Carolina, where he also plays a key role in system administration of the in-house HPC cluster. He was actively involved with both the HPC Ecosystems Project and the CHPC Student Cluster Competition while a lecturer in computer and electronic engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, and during his time as the bioinformatics service platform manager at the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Cape Town.
