Michael E. Papka is the Warren S. McCulloch Professor of Computer Science and director of the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and an Argonne Distinguished Fellow and Senior Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, where he serves as deputy associate laboratory director of the Computing, Environment and Life Sciences directorate and the director of the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility. He also co-directs the Crabtree Institute for Discovery, a joint institute between UIC and Argonne. Dr. Papka’s research focuses on advancing science through high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, large-scale data analysis, and visualization. Before joining UIC, he was a Presidential Research, Scholarship, and Artistry Professor of Computer Science at Northern Illinois University.
