Biography
Tanu Malik is an associate professor at the School of Computing, DePaul University. Her research focuses on scalable systems design, data provenance and reproducibility, and scientific computing. Recently, she has explored the topic of notebook reproducibility and built systems that improve reproducibility of notebooks. At DePaul, she leads the DICE Lab, which has secured external funding from the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics Space Agency, the Department of Energy, and the Bloomberg Foundation. In recognition of her contributions, Tanu received the 2019 NSF CAREER Award for her efforts in advancing computational reproducibility. She was also chosen as the 2019 DOE Better Scientific Software Fellow and was the recipient of DePaul’s esteemed Spirit of Inquiry Award in 2023. Tanu earned her PhD in computer science from Johns Hopkins University and previously held the position of research associate scientist at The University of Chicago.
