Dirk Pleiter

Biography
Since January 2021, Dirk Pleiter has been a professor of high-performance computing at the Division of Computational Science and Technology at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. During the first two years at KTH, he also served as director of PDC. Before he had been at the Juelich Supercomputing Center (JSC) and in parallel professor of physics at the University of Regensburg. At JSC, he built up a research team on "Application-oriented technology development". He has been involved in various European projects, which mostly focussed on co-design of future HPC architectures and technologies, but also closely worked with different computational science communities. He has been pursuing collaborations with various HPC solutions providers and has played a leading role in projects working on future HPC-based infrastructures. Intending to support the extension of such infrastructures towards the compute continuum, he has been a co-founder of the Open Edge and HPC Initiative.
