Spencer Smith is an associate professor at McMaster University, Department of Computing and Software. His research interests include applying software engineering methods, tools and principles to improve the quality of research software, requirements specification, program families and code/document generation. Spencer received a Bachelor of Engineering and Computer Systems, an MEng and a PhD in civil engineering from McMaster University. His graduate research was on the simulation of film casting of elastoviscoplastic polymers. Since 2006, Spencer has been a licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) in Ontario, Canada.
