Biography
Dr. Brian Bockelman is an investigator at the Morgridge Institute for Research working to advance the state of the art of distributed high throughput computing (DHTC) as part of the Center for High Throughput Computing. Bockelman builds collaborations with domain researchers to bring distributed computing ideas out of the laboratory and into the community. This research is anchored by the Partnership to Advance Throughput Computing (PATh), a $25M investment into his and PI Livny’s vision of using DHTC to advance open science; and the new $7M Pelican Project, which builds infrastructure for connecting data repositories to compute. Bockelman has been collaborating with the OSG Consortium since 2008 and his team operates the Open Science Pool for compute and Open Science Data Federation for data. The OSG Consortium and its partners deliver over 2.5 billion computing hours annually and complete more than a million jobs per day.
