Patricia Kovatch

Biography
Patricia Kovatch is the Dean for Scientific Computing and Data at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), founding the division in October 2011. She prioritizes collaboration, partnering computational and data experts with basic and translational scientists to tackle complex scientific questions to better diagnose and treat disease. She established a scalable and sustainable HPC infrastructure and oversees the Mount Sinai Data Warehouse housing clinical records for more than 20 million patients. Serving as PI for several NIH grants, she provides vision and strategy for data science at ISMMS, for Sinai’s Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Core, and nationally for NIEHS's Human Health Exposure Analysis Resource. She works to build bridges among NCI, NIH, DOE and NSF colleagues through avenues including joint SC workshops. Patricia previously served as the director of an institute for computational science for the National Science Foundation at a Department of Energy national laboratory.
