Ioan is a Senior Computational Scientist and Team Leader for HPC Applications at ECMWF. His team is responsible with the optimisation and benchmarking of HPC applications such as the IFS weather forecasting model on both internal and external HPC systems and the exploration of future HPC architectures. His team is also heavily involved in supporting ECMWF's activities in EU's Destination Earth initiative by porting and optimising the IFS weather model on EuroHPC machines such as LUMI and Leonardo in order to enable the efficient operation of the Weather Extremes and Climate Change Adaption digital twins on these platforms.
