Roel Wuyts is a scientific director at Imec and leads the ExaScience Life Lab, a lab focused on providing software solutions for data-intensive high-performance computing problems, primarily in (but not limited to) the life sciences domain. Roel is a member of the EuroHPC JU RIAG (Research and Innovation Advisory Group), helping the European Commission set direction for future supercomputer initiatives. Roel is also a part-time professor in the DistriNet Research Unit at KU Leuven. His academic achievements include published papers in IEEE Software, the Journal of Systems and Software, TOPLAS, ECOOP, OOPSLA and AOSD. Roel still has a special place in his heart for dynamic programming languages.
