Daniel Margala
Biography
Daniel Margala is a research software engineer at the National Energy Research and Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Daniel is in the Programming Environments and Models Group at NERSC, focusing on high-performance computing with GPUs using Python. He is passionate about enabling scientists to use HPC systems for their research and has extensive experience presenting at NERSC training events, mentoring at GPU hackathons, and working with both HPC technology specialists and HPC end-users. Daniel is also a member of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) collaboration and supports their data processing and science teams at NERSC. Daniel earned his PhD in Physics from the University of California, Irvine and lives near Berkeley, California.
