SUMMARY:MatRIS: Performance Portable Math Library of IRIS Runtime for Mult
 i-Device Heterogeneity
DESCRIPTION:Mohammad Alaul Haque Monil, Narasinga Rao Miniskar, Pedro Vale
ro-Lara, Keita Teranishi, and Jeffrey S. Vetter (Oak Ridge National Labora
tory (ORNL))\n\nWe present the recent efforts for MatRIS, the performance
portable math library of IRIS runtime for multi-device heterogeneity. MatR
IS provides dense linear algebra — BLAS (Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms)
and LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) — capabilities across different back
ends available in the IRIS runtime, enabling the same MatRIS code to run e
fficiently on multi-device heterogeneous targets. MatRIS provides standard
BLAS/LAPACK APIs. The motivation (philosophy) of MatRIS is: Implement onc
e, deploy anywhere. The algorithms implemented in MatRIS are serial-like a
nd architecture-agnostic, elevating the programming productivity in hetero
geneous systems. While ensuring portability, MatRIS provides competitive o
r even better performance than state-of-the-art open-source and vendor sol
utions, such as DPLASMA, Chameleon, or NVIDIA cuSolverMG libraries.\n\nReg
istration Category: Tech Program Reg Pass, Exhibits Reg Pass\n\nSession Ch
airs: Ayesha Afzal (Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg; Er
langen National High Performance Computing Center); Sally Ellingson (Unive
rsity of Kentucky); and Alan Sussman (University of Maryland)\n\n
