SUMMARY:Profiling the Impact of Hyper-Threading on Pagosa Hydrocodes
DESCRIPTION:Blake Milstead (University of Tennessee, Knoxville)\n\nPagosa
is a hydrodynamics computer code designed for massively parallel environme
nts, operating within an Eulerian framework using a fixed Cartesian mesh.
This project investigates the performance of Pagosa on Sapphire Rapids nod
es, which feature many-core architectures and high bandwidth memory. By co
nducting strong and weak scaling studies, we aim to evaluate the impact of
hyper-threading and propose modifications to Pagosa’s MPI environment, in
cluding a hybrid MPI and OpenMP parallel decomposition. The anticipated ou
tcomes will inform strategies for optimizing Pagosa, ensuring it remains c
apable of tackling complex computational problems efficiently.\n\nRegistra

National High Performance Computing Center); Sally Ellingson (University
of Kentucky); and Alan Sussman (University of Maryland)\n\n
