SUMMARY:Currents in the Gulf
DESCRIPTION:Francesca Samsel and Gregory Abram (Texas Advanced Computing C
enter (TACC), The University of Texas at Austin)\n\nThe data is processed
in ParaView and then transferred to Artifact-Based Rendering, a custom-bui
lt visualization system designed for artists that enables one to apply cus
tom artifacts to large multivariate volumetric data. Details about Artifac
t-Based Rendering can be found at www.sculpting-vis.org. \n\nPrior work wi
thin Artifact-Based Rendering has focused on colormaps and glyphs. Here we
have turned our attention to the potential of line textures to distinguis
h different categories of streamlines and enrich their visual impact.\n\nA
ll the visual encodings of the data were hand-generated and applied by the
artist via the Artifact-Based Rendering interface. No ML was used to crea
te this image.\n\nRegistration Category: Tech Program Reg Pass, Workshop R
eg Pass, Tutorial Reg Pass, Exhibits Reg Pass\n\n
