SUMMARY:Laser Computing for the Post-Silicon Era: Cracking NP-Hard Problem
s at the Speed of Light
DESCRIPTION:Ruti Ben-Shlomi (LightSolver)\n\nDespite significant advanceme
nts in high-performance computing, certain NP-hard problems remain computa
tionally infeasible, even for the most advanced supercomputers. While heur
istics and approximation algorithms offer faster, often near-optimal solut
ions, many applications demand improved accuracy or real-time processing c
 apabilities.\n\nLightSolver introduces a novel quantum-inspired computing
paradigm designed to address the scalability and performance limitations o
f NP-hard problems. Its Laser Processing Unit™ (LPU) employs lasers for pa
rallel processing at the speed of light, rivaling the performance and scal
ability of current supercomputers.\n\nIn this talk, we will showcase the i
ntegration of LightSolver with Ansys’ LS-DYNA multi-physics simulation sof
tware to optimize reordering for sparse matrix factorization, significantl
y improving the efficiency and scalability of implicit mechanical simulati
ons.\n\nWe will also discuss its application in feature selection for mach
ine learning, where our platform was benchmarked against classical approxi
mation methods. LightSolver demonstrated superior accuracy, even with smal
l data sets, thereby enhancing predictive performance.\n\nTag: Emerging Te
