SUMMARY:Developing an Effective HPC Training Program: A Process Example fr
 om One Research University
DESCRIPTION:Sandra Nite, Joshua Winchell, Dhruva Chakravorty, Trenton Gray
, Wesley Brashear, and Marinus Pennings (Texas A&M University)\n\nBuilding
an HPC training program, keeping the program fresh, and meeting the evolv
ing needs of users can be challenging. Considerations for beginning a prog
ram include the type of training, when to provide training, advertising me
thods, and how to measure the effectiveness of the program. Planning to en
sure the training program is effective as it continues to change involves
how often to offer a course, new hardware or software, time needed for ins
tructor preparation, when to advertise the training schedule, and teaching
strategies to engage users and provide the best learning environment poss
ible. In this paper we describe the process we have developed over time to
continue meeting the needs of our HPC community at Texas A&M University a
nd beyond with our training program. The purpose is to provide one example
of program development that could be useful to other institutions who are
beginning an HPC training program.\n\nTag: Distributed Computing, Educati
