SUMMARY:Women in AI - Challenges and Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Ying Zhang (University of Florida)\n\nArtificial Intelligence
(AI) has become one of the most transformative technologies in this centur
y and permeates nearly every facet of our existence. Despite its rapid gro
wth and deep societal impact, the field of AI faces a significant gender d
isparity. Women are underrepresented in AI, both in industry and academia.
This gender gap is not just a social issue -- it has a profound impact on
the development of AI systems, potentially leading to biased applications
that can exacerbate existing inequalities. The current status of women in
AI reflects broader systemic issues in STEM fields, including gender bias
es in education systems, the lack of role models, and a work culture that
often marginalizes women’s contributions. This presentation explores the c
hallenges faced by women in AI and presents approaches that the University
of Florida’s Women in High Performance (WHPC) Chapter took to overcome th
e barriers.\n\nTag: Broader Engagement, HPC in Society, Inclusivity\n\nReg

ski (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)) and Mozhgan Kabiri chi
 meh (NVIDIA Corporation)\n\n
