SUMMARY:Towards a Cohesive Ecosystem of Workflows, Data, Artificial Intell
 igence, and Humans
DESCRIPTION:Drew Paine, Rajshree Deshmukh, Dan Gunter, Cody O'Donnell, Sar
ah Poon, and Lavanya Ramakrishnan (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (
LBNL))\n\nScientific discoveries increasingly depend on leveraging computa
tion and data at scale among and across ecosystems. Scientific workflow to
ols provide a construct to manage the computation and data over distribute
d and large-scale infrastructure. In the panel discussion, we will detail
how the WORKS community should take a synergistic approach bringing togeth
er workflows, data, artificial intelligence, and humans, grounded in trans
parency and trust, to advance scientific discoveries. We propose two idea
s for discussion: comprehensive adoption of UX methods within the workflow
community and, in tandem, the application of higher level UI design patte
rns to streamline the creation of science-tailored workflow UIs while pres
erving known successful interaction patterns and design principles. We det
ail our current efforts in the next sections and aim to use the panel to f
oster discussion in the community.\n\nTag: Applications and Application Fr
