SUMMARY:OMPTBench – OpenMP Tool Interface Conformance Testing
DESCRIPTION:Jan-Patrick Lehr, Michael Halkenhäuser, Dhruva Chakrabarti, Sa
iyedul Islam, Dan Palermo, and Ron Lieberman (Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)
)\n\nOpenMP® is a highly relevant parallelization standard in high-perform
ance computing and all major compiler vendors support it. The standard def
ines the OpenMP Tool Interface (OMPT) as a mechanism for third-party tools
to obtain information on dedicated runtime events. However, the implement
ation status differs across compilers. Since many correctness tools and pr
ofilers rely on OMPT, being able to judge the status of implementation acr
oss compilers is important. We created a test suite that provides unit-tes
t sized tests suitable to evaluate the support of OMPT in AMD ROCm™ and ot
her compilers. The test suite consists of 30 test cases covering both host
-side and device-side events. While the test suite is not complete, it pro
vides a useful initial vehicle to evaluate the OMPT implementation status.
In our evaluation of various compiler versions, we identified the trend t
owards a full support of OMPT for the AMD ROCm toolchain, passing all devi
ce-side events tests.\n\nTag: Debugging and Correctness Tools, Fault-Toler
